
Syracuse Loses to Valparaiso 3-0

VALPARAISO, IN - Freshman Laura Koster (Houston, TX/Westfield) posted 10 kills and 11 digs, but the Syracuse University women’s volleyball team lost to Valparaiso, 3-0, on Sunday, Sept. 23. SU’s record drops to 5-5 overall, while Valparaiso extends its record to 2-8.
As a team, Valparaiso recorded a .309 attack line compared to Syracuse’s .080. Carrie Goodrich led the Crusaders’ offense with 13 kills, while Marion Hansen posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Freshman Rachel Crooks (Green Springs, OH/Clyde) tallied six kills and nine digs, and in her second match this season, senior co-captain Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) recorded five kills and four digs. Fellow senior Noreen Carroll (La Grange, IL/Lyons Township) dished out 29 assists, had five digs and four block assists.
Syracuse returns to action next weekend to face two BIG EAST opponents. On Friday, September 28, the Orangewomen play Georgetown at 7 p.m. and Virginia Tech on Sunday, September 30 at 2 p.m. Both games are at Manley Field House.
