
Syracuse Defeats Colgate, 3-0

SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse University women’s volleyball team defeated Colgate, 3-0, on Tuesday night at the Women’s Building. SU increased its record to 11-9 overall, while Colgate now stands at 9-15.
Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) led the Orangewomen with 11 kills and two solo blocks. Freshman Rachel Crooks (Green Springs, OH/Clyde) had nine kills and tied a career high with three solo blocks. Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville), Ashley Kimes (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley North) and Morgan Jones (Malad, ID/Malad) recorded eight kills apiece. Jones also hit a career-high .636. As a team, Syracuse hit .250 compared to Colgate’s .139.
Senior co-captain Noreen Carroll (La Grange,IL/Lyons Township) dished out 33 assists, had four kills, three digs and one block assist. With the three games played and the one block assist, Carroll moved into 10th place in career games played at SU with 428 and is tied for 10th in career block assists with 234.
Amanda Routman led Colgate with 15 kills on 27 attacks with three errors for a .444 attack percentage. Elizabeth Aron contributed 12 kills.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 when it faces Providence on the road at 2 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 28, SU meets Brown at noon.
