Brent Bassham was appointed defensive quality control coach for the Orange during Spring 2013 after serving as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Concordia University in 2012. At Concordia, Bassham directed an offense that broke 32 offensive school records, coached the quarterbacks, receivers, tight ends and fullbacks, and directed the punt team. He was selected as the offensive coordinator for the 2012 All-American Bowl, an NAIA-D2 all-star game.
A native of Chesaning, Mich., Bassham began his coaching career as an undergraduate student assistant at Western Michigan in 2006 working with the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In 2007-08, he worked with the defensive coordinator and secondary coaches and assisted the recruiting coordinator. Bassham remained at Western Michigan for 2009 and 2010 as a defensive graduate assistant and earned his Master’s degree in sports studies (coaching).
In 2011, Bassham was the offensive coordinator at Lansing Eastern High School where he coached the quarterbacks, running backs, receivers and tight ends.
Bassham earned his undergraduate degree in physical education from Western Michigan in 2008.
