Fall Camp Notebook: Week 1

The Syracuse football team is four practice days into training camp, as they prepare for the 2026 season. Catch up on everything you might have missed with our fall camp report:
Tuesday, Aug. 4
It was report day for the Orange football program and head coach Fran Brown took to the podium to address the media ahead of his third camp leading the program.
Brown praised this year's leadership group for the togetherness that the team has shown this offseason. Check out that and more in his full press conference:
Wednesday, Aug. 5 | Practice 1
The Orange are finally back on the field, including quarterback Steve Angeli who is now healthy and a full participant after having his 2025 season shortened with a torn achilies.
After practice, Coach Fran met with the media and talked about what he saw on day 1:
Thursday, Aug. 6 | Practice 2
On Thursday, it was Offensive Coordinator Jeff Nixon and offensive players who spoke to the media following practice. Nixon praised the work ethic of the offensive line so far and more, check out his comments below:

Friday, Aug. 7 | Practice 3
It started to look more like real football, as the shoulder pads came on for 'Cuse.
After practice, new Defensive Coordinator Vince Kehres and defensive players spoke to the media.

Saturday, Aug. 8 | Practice 4
Things to look out for this week: Syracuse will have six practices this week – with Tuesday serving as the first off day of camp thus far. Three of those practices will come in full pads, beginning on Monday.
On Saturday, Season Ticket Members are invited to an exclusive meet the team opportunity at the JMA Wireless Dome. Season Ticke Members should check the email associated with their account for information.
This week is also the first full week of NFL Preseason games, with a number of Orange expected to be in action.
On Thursday, new Green Bay Packers members Kyle McCord and Zaire Franklin will take on rookie Kevin Jobity Jr. and the Steelers on NFL Network. Jackson Meeks will suit up for the Lions as they travel to the Bengals. Both those games are at 7 p.m.
At 8 p.m., Oronde Gadsden II, Marlowe Wax and Devin Grant will hit the road with the Chargers to face the Texans. Garrett Williams and the Arizona Cardinals will wrap the evening against the Raiders.
On Friday, Matthew Bergeron – fresh off becoming one of the highest paid guards in the NFL with his recent contract extension – and the Atlanta Falcons will host the Denver Broncos. On NFL Network at 7 p.m., Riley Dixon, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Sean Tucker will face Andre Cisco, Kingsley Jonathan and the New York Jets.
Saturday will see Da'Metrius Weatherspoon and the Buffalo Bills host the Carolina Panthers. Andre Szmyt and the Cleveland Browns will be the first of three national TV games featuring the Orange at 1 p.m.
Dan Villari will make his Rams debut at 4 p.m. on NFL Network, while Fadil Diggs (Saints) and LeQuint Allen Jr. (Jaguars) will square off at the same time.
Justin Barron and Alijah Clark will see time in the 8 p.m. game on NFL Network, as the Cowboys face the Seahawks. Dion Wilson Jr. and the Ravens also host the Eagles that evening.
