SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Heading into the opening game of the 2026 men's lacrosse season, Syracuse University landed second on the USILA Division I Coaches Poll.
Syracuse, the preseason favorite in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), picked up 578 points alongside one first-place vote. Maryland, which Syracuse faces on February 13, was voted first with 623 points including 21 first-place votes. Princeton, another Orange opponent, was third with 573 points and two top selections followed by Cornell at four with 527 points and five first-place votes. Syracuse's March 22 opponent, Georgetown, was voted fifth with 483 points and two first-place votes.
In addition to Syracuse at number two, all five ACC teams were inside the top 20 of the Coaches Poll: No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 11 Duke, and No. 14 Virginia.
Syracuse will face half of the USILA Coaches Poll top 20 across the regular season: No. 1 Maryland, No. 3 Princeton, No. 5 Georgetown, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 11 Duke, No. 13 Harvard, No. 14 Virginia, No. 16 Boston University, and No. 17 Johns Hopkins, in addition to Colgate, Saint Joseph's, Air Force, and Denver all receiving votes.
