The Syracuse women's basketball team wrapped up its summer with a two-day trip to New York City. Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack and her team headed to Manhattan on Tuesday, August 5 for a day that began in Bryant Park and led to of shopping in SoHo and exploring in 'the city that never sleeps'. It was a great way for the Orange to cap off a summer of hard work in the John A. Lally Athletics Complex Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center and the first time many of Syracuse's players have been to New York City.
Tuesday night the team headed to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to take in the WNBA game between New York and Dallas where the Orange players watched the defending champion Liberty beat 2025 WNBA first round draft pick Paige Bueckers and the Wings. The team spent the night in Brooklyn and practiced at the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center in Crown Heights before heading back to Central New York.Â
The trip served as an opportunity for the team to bond off the court and experience traveling together for the first time. Native New Yorker's Shy Hawkins and Angelica Velez led their teammates through the subway system and exploration of the city while shopping. Others traveled to tourism sights or dined on some authentic New York cuisine.Â
The team now heads on a two week break to end the summer before the 2025-26 school year begins in late August.Â
Tickets for the upcoming women's basketball season at the JMA Wireless Dome are on sale now and can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 888-DOME-TIX.
