The Syracuse cross country teams are both coming off top-20 finishes at last year's NCAA Championships and riding multi-year streaks of qualifying for the event. Now, the attention turns to 2025, with a seven meet regular season slate that gets underway on Aug. 30.
The Orange men boast the nation's fourth-longest active streak of NCAA Championship appearances at 16-straight. The streak includes a National Championship (2015), three top-five and five top-10 finishes. Last year's squad placed 11th at the season's final meet. The 'Cuse women have made it each of the past-four seasons, with last year's top-20 finish being the best mark since they placed 12th in 2015.
Action begins on Labor Day weekend, when the Orange head down the road to Colgate for the Harry Lang Invitational on Aug. 30. Two weeks later, 'Cuse will race in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Friday, Sept. 12.
The Orange will then close out the month of September while getting their first look at this year's NCAA Championship course in Columbia, Missouri. The teams will race at the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by Mizzou, on Sept. 26.
A week after Gans Creek, Syracuse will head to Lehigh for the 51st edition of the Paul Short Run.
Friday, Oct. 17 will see the Orange split to a pair of meets. Some members of the team will race at the Princeton Fall Classic, while others will compete in Pre-Nationals, hosted by Wisconsin. The regular season will close a week later at Cornell, on Friday, Oct. 24, for the John Reif Memorial.
Championship season gets underway on Halloween in Louisville, Kentucky, at Tom Sawyer Park – a site that Syracuse has seen numerous successes at. The Orange claimed their second national championship on the course in 2015, and two years later, Justyn Knight and Paige Stoner swept both ACC individual titles, the first time in program history 'Cuse runners won both individual titles. It was also the site of Knight winning the 2017 NCAA individual title.
The NCAA Northeast Regional will be held in Hopkinton, New Hampshire for the second year in a row, on Nov. 14. Last season, the Orange men win the title and the women placed second, earning both automatic berths into the NCAA Championship field.
The NCAA Championships will be hosted by Mizzou for the first time ever on Saturday, Nov. 22.
