Four Named to All- ACC Academic Women's Basketball Team

Four student-athletes from the Syracuse women's basketball team have been named to the 2024 All-ACC Academic Women's Basketball Team, announced Thursday by the league office. Sophie Burrows, Alaina Rice, Kyra Wood and Georgia Woolley all represent the Orange on the list of 76 student-athletes.Â
Student athletes who have achieved a 3.0-grade point average in the semester prior to selection, a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while having competed in at least half of their team's games are eligible for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team.Â
Wood and Woolley are second time honorees having both made the All-ACC Academic Team in 2023 while graduate student Alaina Rice and freshman Sophie Burrows are first time recipients.
A Buffalo, N.Y., native, Wood started 24 games as a junior this season and was second on the team in rebounds per game (6.8). Her 6.8 boards per game ranked 11th in the ACC and she started a career best 19-straight games this season. She is a television, radio and film major in Syracuse's prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.Â
Woolley, a native of Brisbane, Australia, appeared in 29 games this season as Syracuse's second-leading scorer. She poured in 18 points in Syracuse NCAA Tournament Second Round loss at UConn to end the season and finished the year averaging 13.8 points per game. She is studying communications and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.Â
Rice, a Rockledge, Fla., native earned her first All-ACC Academic Team recognition. Rice, a graduate student studying entrepreneurship in the Whitman School of Management, scored over 1,000 points in her collegiate career and averaged 9.8 points per game as Syracuse's third leading scorer this season.Â
Burrows played in 30 games as a true freshman this season. She averaged 4.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. She scored in double figures in five games including a season-high 18 point performance against UConn in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The freshman guard from Melbourne, Australia, is studying psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences.Â
