How it Happened
- Syracuse controlled the action early, keeping Boston College out of the scoring area for most of the first quarter while out-shooting the Eagles 3-2 in the first.
- Neither team registered a shot in the second period while Boston College collected one corner. The Eagles had a goal called back in the first half deemed dangerous and sending things tied up 0-0 into halftime.
- Boston College chalked up the only scoring opportunity of the third quarter but Pert was equal to the task to push the game tied 0-0 into the final period.
- Syracuse's offense put the pressure back on late in the game, getting three straight corners in a 30 second span. Van Kempen had a great chance but Kramer got her right pad on the shot.
- After the Orange flurry, Boston College strung together chances of its own. Yani Zhong took three straight shots, one of which was saved by Pert with the next two blocked by defenders.
- Drion inserted the game's final penalty corner with 66 seconds to play to set up a Martina Giacchino shot that Pert turned away but the rebound fell into Drion's lap and she knocked in the lone goal.
- Both offenses were even throughout as the Orange took six total shots with three on goal. The Eagles took eight chances with six finding the goal but the Orange came away with five saves.
- Syracuse earned one more penalty corner in the game, with all five chances coming in the fourth quarter. The Orange did not draw their first corner until the 54th minute of the game.
- Friday's loss was the first at home against the Eagles since the 2014 season, halting a run of three-straight wins at Coyne Stadium against Boston College.
- The Orange head for Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the 2024 ACC Field Hockey Tournament, hosted by Wake Forest.
- Syracuse awaits final seeding when the ACC regular season concludes.
- Tournament action begins Tuesday at Kentner Stadium.
