
Volleyball Hits the Road for Its Final Non-Conference Weekend

The Syracuse volleyball team travels to Ames, Iowa Sept. 14-16 for its final non-conference weekend at the Cyclone Classic. The Orange are set to take on RV Wyoming, Iowa and host, RV Iowa State.

The Opponents
Following the UniWyo Invitational, Wyoming improved to 8-1 after picking up its second tournament title of the season. The Cowgirls went undefeated against Binghamton, Arizona State and Murray State.

Iowa enters the Cyclone Classic at 5-3 after sweeping its last three opponents. The Hawkeyes are led by senior Taylor Louis, who is the active NCAA career leader in kills with 1,643. Iowa is 1-0 all-time against Syracuse, coming into the first meeting between the two squads since 2012.

Iowa State enters the weekend at 6-4 with a notable win over then-No. 17 UNI. The Cyclones are coming off a 1-2 weekend where they lost a pair of matches to No. 7 Nebraska and No. 14 Creighton after picking up a win over Wichita State. Sunday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams as Syracuse holds the narrow 2-1 lead in the series.

Freshman Polina Shemanova paces the Orange attack with 89 total kills. Shemanova leads the ACC with 4.45 kills per set, a mark that ranks 20th in the nation and second among freshmen nationally. Santita Ebangwese continues to stifle opponents hitting as she ranks ninth nationally in blocks per set at 1.55 on a team that leads the ACC in blocking with 2.90 total blocks per set.

Following the Cyclone Classic, Syracuse will kick-off ACC play with its home opener against Georgia Tech on Friday, Sept. 21. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in the Women's Building with free admission. The game will also be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
