Volleyball Hits the Road for Its Final Non-Conference Weekend

The Syracuse volleyball team travels to Ames, Iowa Sept. 14-16 for its final non-conference weekend at the Cyclone Classic. The Orange are set to take on RV Wyoming, Iowa and host, RV Iowa State.

The Opponents
Following the UniWyo Invitational, Wyoming improved to 8-1 after picking up its second tournament title of the season. The Cowgirls went undefeated against Binghamton, Arizona State and Murray State.

Iowa enters the Cyclone Classic at 5-3 after sweeping its last three opponents. The Hawkeyes are led by senior Taylor Louis, who is the active NCAA career leader in kills with 1,643. Iowa is 1-0 all-time against Syracuse, coming into the first meeting between the two squads since 2012.

Iowa State enters the weekend at 6-4 with a notable win over then-No. 17 UNI. The Cyclones are coming off a 1-2 weekend where they lost a pair of matches to No. 7 Nebraska and No. 14 Creighton after picking up a win over Wichita State. Sunday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams as Syracuse holds the narrow 2-1 lead in the series.

'Cuse Leaders
Freshman Polina Shemanova paces the Orange attack with 89 total kills. Shemanova leads the ACC with 4.45 kills per set, a mark that ranks 20^th in the nation and second among freshmen nationally. Santita Ebangwese continues to stifle opponents hitting as she ranks ninth nationally in blocks per set at 1.55 on a team that leads the ACC in blocking with 2.90 total blocks per set.

Following the Cyclone Classic, Syracuse will kick-off ACC play with its home opener against Georgia Tech on Friday, Sept. 21. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in the Women's Building with free admission. The game will also be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
