
Orange Takes Five-match Win Streak to NC State

The Syracuse volleyball team takes its five-match win streak to NC State for a mid-week matchup. NC State, who boasts four consecutive wins, hosts the Orange Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. The match will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Syracuse (17-7, 13-3) enters the final stretch of the regular season in a tight battle for second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Orange's top finish in the ACC came in 2015 where they finished fourth. 'Cuse currently leads the ACC and ranks second in the country with 3.07 blocks per set.
THE MATCHUP
Ranking second in the ACC with 15.29 digs per set, the Wolfpack have held opponents to a .191 hitting percentage. The sub-.200 clip is the fourth best in the ACC, however, the Wolfpack has struggled to find an answer against their opponent's blocks. NC State has given up the third most blocks per set in the ACC this year (2.47), giving up 10 or more blocks in 58 percent of its matches.
Despite holding a 9-3 series advantage, NC State dropped a 3-1 matchup against the Orange earlier this season. In that faceoff, Santita Ebangwese recorded a match-high eight blocks adding to 'Cuse's 14 as a team. Polina Shemanova led the offensive attack with 21 kills.
LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse kicked off its string of three matches in seven days last Sunday where they defeated Virginia Tech, 3-0, for the second time this season. Ella Saada and Shemanova led the Orange, each with 11 kills. Saada paired her kills with 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season while Shemanova added four blocks. Syracuse completed its sixth sweep of the season while tallying 10 blocks as a team.

The Orange return home for its final regular season matchup Sunday, Nov. 24. Syracuse will recognize its five graduating seniors – Ebangwese, Anastasiya Gorelina, Christina Oyawale, Jalissa Trotter and Amber Witherspoon.
