
Orange Travels to Georgia Tech

The Syracuse volleyball team visits Georgia Tech Sunday, Nov. 11 for a 1 p.m. matchup. The Orange (15-7, 10-3 ACC) look to win their fourth straight match as they face-off against Georgia Tech (16-11, 5-9 ACC) for the second time this season. Action will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
THE MATCHUP
Georgia Tech (16-11, 5-9 ACC) has won three of its last four games entering the final stretch of ACC play. The Yellow Jackets are second in the ACC in digs per set with 14.96.
Kodie Comby has been the mainstay of the Georgia Tech offense, ranking eighth in the ACC with a .335 hitting percentage. Two Yellow Jackets, Mikaila Dowd and Mariana Brambilla, rank among the top-10 in kills per set. Matti McKissock is the only player in the ACC who ranks among the top-10 in both assists and digs.
The Orange swept Georgia Tech 3-0 to open conference play earlier this season in Syracuse. In that matchup, Syracuse recorded 15 blocks and held the Yellow Jackets to a .120 hitting percentage. Shemanova opened her impressive freshman ACC campaign with 15 kills and 12 digs, both match-highs.
LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse capped off three matches in seven days with a victory at Virginia Tech Nov. 2. The Orange held Virginia Tech to a season low .070 hitting percentage thanks to a season-high 19 blocks. Amber Witherspoon led the effort at the net with 14 blocks, the most in a single-match from any player in the ACC this season. The trio of Polina Shemanova, Santita Ebangwese and Witherspoon notched double-digit kills with 12, 11, and 10, respectively. Ebangwese had an errorless night with a .733 hitting percentage on 15 attacks.
UP NEXT
The Orange return home Nov. 18 to face-off against Virginia Tech for the second time in two weeks. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. with free admission.
