Upcoming Signing Dates: November 13 - November 20, 2013 for all sports
except Football, Field Hockey, Soccer, Track and Field, and Cross Country.
Before the Signing Period:Â Prior to issuing an NLI, the prospective student athlete must be
registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and be added to the Institutional Request List
(IRL). Furthermore, all transcripts from all high schools the prospective student-athlete has
attended, as well as their SAT/ACT test scores must be turned into the Offi ce of Athletic
Compliance for prior review.
Delivery of the NLI:Â Any in-person, off-campus contact made by institutional athletics
personnel with a prospective student-athlete for the purposes of signing an NLI, or attendance
at activities related to the signing of an NLI, is prohibited. Furthermore, in-person,
off-campus delivery of an NLI by staff is prohibited. NLI's may be delivered during an
offi cial or unofficial visit, so long as it is not a recruiting dead period and all other NCAA
rules are followed.
NLI Dead Period:Â The Monday through Thursday of the initial week of the fall signing of
the NLI is a Dead Period. A dead period is a period of time when it is not permissible to
make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the institution's campus or to
permit offi cial or unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to the institution's campus.
Signing the NLI:Â Effective this year, the NLI must be signed within 7 days after the date
it was issued (so long as there are 7 days remaining in the signing period), or else it will be
considered invalid.
Contact During the Signing Period:Â In sports other than football it is permissible to have
unlimited calls to the prospective student-athlete on the initial date for signing the NLI, as
well as during the two days immediately following the prospects singing date.
After Signing:Â Once the NLI has been signed, it must be fi led with the conference offi ce
within 14 days. NLI's received after the 14-day deadline will be declared invalid.
When an NLI become Null and Void:Â An NLI is declared null and void if a prospective
student athlete:
              1. Is denied admission into the institution;

                            2. Does not meet NCAA, institutional, or conference eligibility requirements;
                            3. If the student does not enroll in a two or four-year institution for at least one
                            academic year and the scholarship is not long available in the same amount as was initially offered;

Employment of Prospects:Â Prospects may be employed at institutional camps in the summer
prior to beginning at the University, so long as they have signed an NLI and completed
their fi nal year of high school.
Reminders:
An NLI must be accompanied by an athletics aid agreement. Prospective student-athletes
not receiving athletics aid are not permitted to sign an NLI. If a prospective student-athlete
declines athletics aid in favor of other institutional aid, the NLI must be declared null and
void.
Before the signing of a prospective student-athlete to an NLI or an institution's written
offer of admission and/or financial aid or before the institution receives the financial
desposit from the prospect, member institutions may not comment on a prospect other
than to confirm his or her recruitment.
