
Volleyball Sweeps on Day Two of Utah State Invitational

LOGAN, Utah – The Syracuse University volleyball team (5-1) defeated Texas State 3-0 and Idaho State 3-1 on Saturday in the final day of the Utah State Invitational at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
In the first match of the day, the Orange registered a three set sweep of Texas State (25-18, 25-21, 29-27). SU's offense was equally distributed as Noemie Lefebvre and Lindsay McCabe shared a team-high seven kills, while Andrea Fisher, Sam Hinz and Nicolette Serratore each had six kills.
As a team, SU hit at a .174 clip with 36 kills and 16 errors. McCabe tallied four blocks and Sam Hinz added to her team-high 30 blocks with three more. Libero Ashley Williams totaled a match-high 14 digs.
The Bobcats were led by 11 kills from Lindy DeGeare and 10 kills from Amber Calhoun. SU was aided by 24 attacking errors and 21 service errors from Texas State.
In Syracuse's second match of the day, SU defeated Idaho State (26-28, 25-21, 25-16, 25-17). Lefebvre tied her season high with 16 kills and also added 14 digs. McCabe had her first double-digit kill performance of the season with 10 and a .412 hitting clip to go along with eight blocks.
Hinz continued her stellar play at the net with 11 blocks, two of which were solo efforts. She is averaging 1.86 blocks per set this season.
Laura Homann dished out a season-high 45 assists while Williams once again led the team in digs with 18.
The Bengals' Danielle Downs was the only ISU player to record double-digits kills with 13. Kylee Searle led the team in digs with 18.
The Orange is in action on Monday against Utah Valley with first serve set for 3 p.m. EST.
