SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University volleyball team (11-6, 2-1 BIG EAST) begins its four match home stand this Wednesday night against Colgate (6-10, 3-1 Patriot League). First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Women's Building.
The Orange is coming off back-to-back conference road sweeps over St. John's and Connecticut last weekend. Andrea Fisher received BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for tallying 19 kills on 39 attempts in the two games.
SU continues to be one of the top blocking teams in the country. The Orange ranks fourth nationally with a 3.06 blocks per set average and trails only Stanford (3.30), Washington (3.22) and BYU (3.17).
Colgate is Syracuse's most common opponent, as the two teams have met every season since 1973. SU holds a 41-9-2 series advantage and is currently riding a 19-match winning streak against the Raiders.
Lindsay Young paces the Colgate offense with a 3.46 kills per set average. She has a team-high 197 kills and hits at a .205 clip. Defensively, Colgate has five players with at least 100 digs led by Caitlin Cremin with a team-high 203.
Syracuse then has two BIG EAST matches this coming weekend with Villanova on Friday at 7:00 p.m., and Georgetown on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., both at the Women's Building.
