
Men's Lacrosse Wins Season Opener at Army, 15-7

The No. 1-ranked Syracuse men's lacrosse team came back from a four-goal deficit early in the second quarter and outscored No. 20-ranked Army, 13-1, during the next 34 minutes en route to a 15-7 victory at West Point's Michie Stadium.
It was the season opener for both teams.
SU junior midfielder Sean Lindsay (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland-Panas), who grew up eight miles from the Army campus, scored a career-high four goals. He scored back-to-back goals in the second quarter which pulled the Orangemen within one goal (4-3) with 6:23 to play in the period. By halftime, the score was tied, 5-5.
Syracuse (1-0) was 4-for-8 on the extra-man opportunity. Senior attackman Michael Springer (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) tallied a game-high five points (one goal, four assists). He had a hand in three EMO goals.
Sophomore Jay Pfeifer (Towson, Md./Gilman) recorded 14 saves for the Orangemen. He played the entire game in goal.
SU hosts Virginia in its 2003 home opener on Sat., March 1, at the Carrier Dome. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
