
Syracuse Volleyball Loses to Pittsburgh in Four Games

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Orangewomen volleyball team won the first game, 30-28, but lost the next three, 30-20, 33-31, 30-25, as Pittsburgh earned a 3-1 victory on Saturday, Nov. 15. Syracuse is now 16-16 overall and 3-8 in the BIG EAST, while the Panthers, who have already clinched a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament, are 21-4 overall and 10-1 in the league.
Sophomores Kelly Duan and Kristen Conway both recorded double-doubles. Duan finished with 11 kills and 17 digs along with four block assists. Conway posted 10 kills on 44 attempts and 14 digs as well as four block assists. Junior Morgan Jones had 10 kills, and sophomore Jessica Logan finished with 14 kills on 32 attempts. Freshman Erin McQuillin recorded six kills and four block assists. Senior Christen Casey had a team-high 21 digs, and classmate Michaela Skelly recorded 15 digs. Sophomore Kathryn Dercher led the Orange with 27 assists, and classmate Aila Dommestrup recorded 18 helpers.
Wendy Hatlestad and Sarah Rollman both recorded double-doubles for the Panthers. Hatlestad posted 21 kills on a match-high 71 attempts and added 11 digs. Rollman had 20 kills on 55 attempts and added 15 digs and six total blocks. Megan Miller finished with 19 kills and seven total blocks, while Abby Fechhelm recorded 17 digs and four block assists. April Puzauskas posted 11 kills on 15 attempts with just two errors for a match-high .600 hitting percentage, along with seven digs. Megan McGrane, the top back-row defensive player in the BIG EAST, recorded 27 digs. Lindsey Macke finished with 53 assists and nine digs.
Syracuse plays its final match of the season on Sunday, Nov. 16, at West Virginia. The first serve is slated for 1:00 p.m.
