Boston College Defeats Syracuse Volleyball, 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Senior co-captain Noreen Carroll (La Grange, IL/Lyons Township) and freshman Laura Koster (Houston, TX/Westfield) each recorded double-doubles, but Syracuse’s volleyball team was defeated by Boston College, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Power Gym. SU’s record now stands at 8-8 overall and 1-4 in BIG EAST play, while BC increases its record to 12-5 and 1-4 in the BIG EAST.
Syracuse won the first game 30-24 after hitting .325 but lost the next three, 19-30, 24-30 and 25-30. Carroll dished out 46 assists and recorded 10 digs, while Koster tallied a team-high 13 kills and a career-high 15 digs. Koster also had a match-high .444 attack percentage. Junior Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville) contributed 11 kills and a team-high five total blocks.
Sophomore Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) and freshman Rachel Crooks (Green Springs, OH/Clyde) recorded 13 and 10 digs, respectively. Casey has tallied double digits in digs in two matches this weekend.
Boston College hit .136 as a team, compared to Syracuse’s .127. BC also served up 15 aces in the match, while SU had only three.
Syracuse returns home next weekend to face two more BIG EAST opponents. On Friday, Oct. 12, SU plays Rutgers at 7 p.m. and then Villanova on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.
