Assistant athletic trainer Kathleen Chaney joined the Orange staff in June 2007. Chaney, who earned her Master’s degree from Syracuse while serving as a graduate assistant, works with the women's soccer team. She is also responsible for summer camp coverage and administrative duties.
A 2003 graduate of the Michigan State University, Chaney earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in athletic training. She received her graduate degree in exercise science from Syracuse University. While at Michigan State University she was awarded the Ray J. Saltzman award in 2003 as student athletic trainer of the year.
As a graduate assistant, Chaney worked with the Orange women’s volleyball and women’s lacrosse teams. Prior to joining the Syracuse staff, Chaney was a certified athletic trainer at Portland High School while associated with Ingham Regional Medical Center from 2004-2005. Chaney administered help to injured and uninjured athletes and provided leadership to high school student trainers. She worked with 17 varsity, seven junior varsity and five freshman teams throughout the scholastic year. Chaney also served as a floating athletic trainer at Plymouth Physical Therapy from 2003-2004.

Chaney is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and a certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor. She and her husband, matthew, have two sons, Donovan and Colton.
