The “Voice of the Orange,” Matt Park ’97 has delivered the authoritative and memorable calls of Syracuse football and basketball games for more than two decades. His smooth and assuring presence provides the soundtrack for the Orange’s biggest sporting events.
Park returned to his alma mater in 2002 to join the Syracuse Sports Network after six seasons calling minor league baseball with the Piedmont Boll Weevils (Class A, Phillies) and West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (Class AA, Cubs).
In July 2004, he was named Voice of the Orange, assuming play-by-play duties for football and basketball. Park also hosts radio and television coaches shows, and produces and hosts Syracuse Athletics’ annual Cuse Awards and other events.
Along with color analyst Jim Satalin, Park received the 2020 Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence for contributions to the Syracuse basketball program.
An adjunct professor at the Newhouse School since 2002, Park also directed the Sportscaster U. career development program at the University in conjunction with the National Basketball Players Association for 10 years.
Park, a native of nearby Chittenango, started his career covering high school games for WMCR radio in Oneida. He also covered minor league baseball in Syracuse, Auburn, Binghamton and Rochester and previously served as the radio voice of UNC Greensboro basketball.
