Female Rookie of the Year
Brittany Anghel, Women’s SoccerBrittany was selected to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team after recording 91 saves in her freshman campaign, which is the sixth-highest single-season total in school history. She posted six shutouts on the year, and became the first Syracuse player to earn BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Brittany ranked second in the league in saves and third in saves per game (5.06). Kallie Billadeau, Ice Hockey
Kallie was selected as the only goaltender on the CHA All-Rookie Team. She recorded a goals-against-average of 2.84, a saves percentage of .908, and 600 saves in 22 games played. Her first career shutout in the CHA semifinals against Niagara helped the Cuse advance to the conference championship game. Laura Hahnefeldt, Field Hockey
Laura had a stellar freshman season in which she was recognized on the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Second Team and Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast First Team. Laura was also named to the BIG EAST Conference Second Team and was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her performance at Albany. Among other accolades, Laura earned NFHCA Division I National Academic honors. Maddie Kobelt – Tennis
Maddie has recorded an overall record of 31-11, which leads the team in wins and winning percentage (.738). She is 15-6 in singles play and 16-5 in doubles action. She and doubles partner Emily Harman played their way into the NCAA Division I rankings, reaching their highest spot at No. 32 on March 29 after defeating the No. 7 and No. 44 ranked doubles pairs in one week. Lindsay led Syracuse with 118 total blocks, including a team-best 17 solo blocks and ranked fourth on the Orange with 211 kills. She set a career-high 15 kills in a 3-2 victory at Kent State and complete the season third in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.390) and sixth in the BIG EAST in blocks per set (1.12). As of 4/18/11, Katie leads the team in goals and is second in scoring. She has scored two or more goals in eight games this season, and against Virginia tallied six goals and two assists. Katie is currently tied for 10th in the BIG EAST in goals per game and is a two-time member of the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Male Rookie of the Year
C.J. Fair, Men’s BasketballC.J. played in 32-of-35 games averaging 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Against conference opponents, he improved to 7.1 points and 4.1 rebounds. C.J. emerged as a solid contributor later in the season and averaged 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in the Orange’s two NCAA Tournament games. Ross Krautman, Football
Ross tied the Syracuse single-season record for field goals made (18) and field goal percentage (.947) in 2010. He also tied the school record for consecutive field goals made (16). His freshman campaign earned him Sporting News Freshman All-American and All-BIG EAST Second Team honors. Donald Pollitt, Men’s Track & Field
Donald qualified for the Indoor BIG EAST and IC4A Championships in the 60 meter hurdles, where he placed fifth at the BIG EAST Championships. In the outdoor season (as of 4/14/11), he has qualified for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships and ranks 9th in the conference in the 110 meter hurdles.
