Senior Year (1956): Unanimous All-America selection…finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting…carried the ball 158 times for 986 yards and 13 touchdowns…scored a college record 43 points against Colgate by scoring six touchdowns and seven PATs…rushed for 132 yards on 22 carries at the Cotton Bowl and scored 21 of SU’s 27 points…caught five passes for 56 yards and one touchdown…second on the team in interceptions with three.

Junior Year (1955): Rushed for 666 yards on 128 carries…ran for 129 yards on only 10 carries against Boston University…rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns the following week against Brown…caught five passes for 44 yards and one touchdown…second on the team in interceptions with two.

Sophomore Year (1954): Ran for 439 yards and four touchdowns on 75 carries…scored SU’s lone touchdown in a loss to Cornell…scored on runs of 41 and 17 yards en route to 101 yards against Colgate…led the team in interceptions with three.

Personal: James Nathaniel Brown…born February 17, 1936 in St. Simons, Georgia…attended Manhasset High School…four-sport star at Syracuse (lacrosse, track and basketball)…is the only player in the College Football, Pro Football and Lacrosse Halls of Fame.
