Syracuse finished the season 6-0 at the Carrier Dome, its first undefeated home season since 1988. This season was the third time that SU has gone undefeated at home since the Carrier Dome opened in 1980.
Senior tailback James Mungro surpassed the 1,000 rushing mark for the season with a 15-yard run on the first carry of the game. Mungro is the sixth SU player to run for 1,000 yards in a season. He finished the season with 1,170 yards.
James Mungro posted his sixth 100-yard rushing game of the season and 12th of his career. He finishes the season tied for third with Joe Morris (1981) for the most 100-yard games in a season. Mungro moved into fourth place alongside Ernie Davis with 12 career 100-yard games.
With his second touchdown of the game, James Mungro tied a school record for most rushing touchdowns in a season with 14. Floyd Little rushed for 14 in 1965. Mungro also moved into second place for most rushing touchdowns in a career with 29. Floyd Little had 35 in his career.
Kyle Johnson had his first multiple-scoring game with his two touchdowns. He had his first receiving touchdown of the season and second of his career with his 40-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. Johnson gave SU its first lead of the game with a six-yard touchdown run.
With his one sack in the second quarter, Dwight Freeney now has 17.5 unofficial sacks on the season, breaking the BIG EAST single-season sack record. Corey Moore of Virginia Tech held the top spot with 17 sacks in the 1999 season.
Senior cornerback Andre Brinson blocked his third punt of the season. The second half-blocked punt resulted in a Syracuse safety and a 30-14 lead. Brinson's three blocked punts tied a SU record for most blocked punts in a single season and in a career. The last time an Orangemen blocked three punts was last season when David Tyree accomplished the feat.
