Orange Finish 6th in Team Points at Eastern Sprints

The Syracuse men's rowing team finished sixth overall in the Rowe Cup standings (team points) at the 2025 EARC Eastern Sprints. The Orange placed two boats in the Grand Final earning a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 2nd Varsity Eight and the 4th Varsity Eight. The Varsity Eight was second in the Petite Final (7th overall) while the 3rd Varsity Eight won the Petite Final finishing 6th overall.
After finishing third in Heat 1 behind Harvard and Yale, the Orange Varsity Eight earned a spot in the Petite Final. Syracuse crossed the finish second in 5:42.89, behind Northeastern (5:40.16) and ahead of Wisconsin (5:43.16), Boston University (5:45.24), Cornell (5:46.91) and Georgetown (5:50.17).
The 2V8 cruised to a victory in the morning semifinal, winning Heat 2 in 5:47.78 ahead of Yale (5:49.12), Brown (5:51.16), Wisconsin (5:58.49) and Georgetown (6:12.63) earning a spot in the Grand Final for the third-straight year. The Orange 2nd Varsity Eight finished fourth in the Grand Final crossing the finish in 5:47.88 behind winner Harvard (5:39.50), Princeton (5:42.63), and Dartmouth (5:45.82) and ahead of Yale (5:49.07) and Penn (5:50.42).
In the 3rd Varsity Eight the Orange placed third in Heat 1, missing the Grand Final by .49 seconds. Harvard won the heat in 5:46.34 while Dartmouth was second in 5:47.83. Syracuse crossed in 5:48.32 ahead of Holy Cross (6:02.03) and Navy (6:04.94). The Orange cruised to a nearly four-second win in the Petite Final, earning sixth overall in a time of 5:51.90 marking the second year in a row the Orange won the B-level final.
The 4th Varsity Eight narrowly beat Penn in Heat 2 of the semifinals to place second and advance to the Grand Final for the third-straight year. Syracuse was fourth in the Grand Final, improving upon last year's sixth-place finish. The Orange crossed the finish in 5:56.67 behind winner Yale (5:49.57), Harvard (5:49.62), and Dartmouth (5:54.41) and ahead of Penn (6:01.65) and Brown (6:07.14).
The Orange now turn their attention to the IRA National Championship Regatta in two weeks. The IRA Regatta will be hosted in Camden, NJ from May 30-June 1.
