HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgia Tech jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set before Lea'ea helped Syracuse mount a response. The middle blocker provided an early offensive spark, recording five of her nine kills in the first set. The Orange battled back to pull within three at 13-10, but the Yellow Jackets pulled away down the stretch to take the set 25-17.
The second set featured five ties as Syracuse stayed competitive early. Lea'ea continued her strong performance while George found her rhythm offensively. The Orange used an 8-3 run to rally from a 13-5 deficit to cut the margin to 17-15. Yet, Georgia Tech closed on an 8-3 run of its own to take the set 25-18.
Syracuse fought throughout the third set but couldn't overcome Georgia Tech's consistent offense. The Yellow Jackets maintained control and closed out the match with a 25-17 victory.
