
Madonna, Stoner Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Dom Madonna of the men's lacrosse team and Paige Stoner of the women's track and field team have been named this week's scholar-athletes of the week.
Madonna is a local product, a redshirt senior from Liverpool, N.Y., pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in computer engineering. He was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll as a redshirt junior and a three-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
The goalkeeper has started all 13 games for the Orange this season, posting a .457 save percentage and an 11.02 goals against average. His 9.38 saves per game average is good for third in the conference and Madonna recorded a career-high 13 saves against Notre Dame.
Stoner is a double major, studying psychology and selected studies in education in the School of Education. A junior from Pottsville, Pa., Stoner was tabbed to the ACC Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore and has made three appearances on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
The long distance runner finished the 5000-meter run in a time of 15:44.04 at the Iowa State Classic to qualify for the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Nationals. Her time at Iowa shattered the Syracuse school record for the women's 5000-meter event. In the midst of the outdoor season, Stoner set a new school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Virginia Challenge with a time of 9:57.20.
Madonna and the men's lacrosse team host Colgate on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the regular season finale. Stoner will compete in the 5000-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Friday, May 3 at 9:15 p.m.
