
Gilstrap, Ferrantelli Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – David Gilstrap of the men's track and field team and Alexandria Ferrantelli of the spirit squad are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.       Â
A senior from Atlanta, Ga., Gilstrap is majoring in health and exercise science. He is a member of the Syracuse University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Selection in 2016. Gilstrap was selected to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 2016-17 academic year and is a four-time member of the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
In 2016, Gilstrap finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.01 at the Indoor ACC Championships and placed fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.17 at the Outdoor ACC Championships. He took 16th in the 110m hurdles with a personal-best of 13.92 at the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Â Â Â
A junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., Ferrantelli is majoring in Social Work. She is a member of the Syracuse University SAAC and is an Alpha Chi Omega Lambda Chapter Founding Member. Ferrantelli is a member of the Syracuse University Dean's List and is on the Alpha Chi Omega Philanthropy Committee.
A member of the Syracuse "Blue" cheer squad, Ferrantelli devotes hours of time towards training, travel and game coverage. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
