
Moyer, Freytag Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Matthew Moyer of the men's basketball team and Jenna Freytag of the spirit squad are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
A redshirt freshman from Gahanna, Ohio, Moyer is majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication. Moyer was a member of the USA East Coast basketball team, a group of collegiate players which traveled to Spain for a series of exhibition games over the summer.
Moyer has started in all ten games this season for the Orange. He averages 4.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Moyer posted a season-high 18 points with eight rebounds in a 72-63 victory over Connecticut in the Jimmy V Classic.
A junior from Pennellville, N.Y., Freytag is majoring in Health and Physical Education in the School of Education. She actively volunteers in the Syracuse University FIT Families Program and coaches for Gc2 Gymnastics in East Syracuse.
Freytag has been a member of the Syracuse spirit squad since 2016 and has devoted hours of time towards training, travel and game coverage.
Moyer and the men's basketball team host Buffalo on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and St. Bonaventure on Friday, Dec. 22. Both games are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the Syracuse Box Office, on Cuse.com, or by calling 888-DOMETIX.
