
Tooker, Ebangwese Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Aidan Tooker of the men's cross country team and Santita Ebangwese of the women's volleyball team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
A sophomore from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Tooker is pursuing a degree in communication and rhetorical studies. Tooker was an ACC Academic Honor Roll member during the 2016-2017 season and qualified for the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of his two semesters at Syracuse.
Tooker finished in 10th place at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 13. He completed the 8K course in 23:53.5, the second best finish for the Orange. Tooker crossed the finish line fifth at the Coast-To-Coast Battle in Beantown, finishing with a time of 24:14.1. He also turned in a time of 25:49.6 at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe, the fastest time for 'Cuse.
A junior from Rochester, N.Y., Ebangwese is pursuing a degree in bioengineering. Ebangwese is enrolled in the Honors Program at Syracuse and is an active representative in the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She is a two-time All-ACC Academic team member and has spent time tutoring at Northside Children's Center through the Young Scholars Program. Ebangwese has been named an ACC Academic Honor Roll member twice and has qualified for the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all four of her completed semesters.
In 2017, Ebangwese was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team and was named the Dartmouth Invitational MVP. She leads the ACC with 116 blocks on the season. Ebangwese ranks first on the team with 285.5 points and second with 203 kills. She is third in program history with 1.23 career blocks per set.
Tooker and the men's cross country team head to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the ACC Championships on Friday, Oct. 27.
Ebangwese and the women's volleyball team host Virginia Tech and Virginia on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m., respectively. Both matches are free of charge and will be broadcasted on ACC Network Extra.
