
Grossi, Villani Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Stephanie Grossi of the women's ice hockey team and Justin Villani of the Syracuse cheer team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Grossi and the ice hockey team return home to Tennity Ice Pavilion on Friday, Dec. 9 to host #4 Clarkson at 7 p.m. Admission and parking for the game are free of charge. The Orange will then complete the home-and-home series in Potsdam, N.Y. at the home of the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon.
Grossi is a junior majoring in biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences and an active representative of the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Grossi leads the team in points, with 11 on six goals and five assists. The junior earned College Hockey of America First Team honors last year, while being honored with the conference scoring trophy after leading Syracuse with 36 points from 14 goals and a CHA-leading 22 assists.
Villani and the Syracuse spirit squad will be cheering on the Orange basketball teams in the double-header on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Carrier Dome. The men's basketball team hosts Boston University at 12 p.m., while the women's team welcomes Niagara for a 3 p.m. game to follow.
Tickets for both games can be purchased on Cuse.com, by calling 1-888-DOMETIX or at Gate B at the Carrier Dome. Fans can also watch the game on ACC Network Extra and listen to the live broadcast on the Syracuse IMG Radio Network.
Villani is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in computer engineering. He earned his bachelor of science in computer engineering while minoring in mathematics through the school of engineering last spring.
A native of Moorestown, New Jersey, Villani is a 2016-17 captain of the cheer team and a five-year student-athlete. He was a member of Syracuse's 2016 UCA College Nationals finalist team.
