Syracuse University student-athletes are trading in their cleats for heels, their uniforms for suits, and their hard work for a well-deserved celebration at the eighth annual 'Cuse Awards.
All Orange student-athletes, coaches and staff will gather for the special evening on Monday, April 28 at the Goldstein Auditorium in the Schine Student Center on the Syracuse campus. The awards show will begin at 8 p.m. and will be televised by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and streamed live on www.Cuse.com.
Â
The annual event celebrates the past year in Syracuse University Athletics and honors Orange student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Â
Established in 2007 by Syracuse University Athletic Director Dr. Daryl Gross, the 'Cuse Awards celebrate the successes of all Orange student-athletes, including the presentation of the awards for Athletes, Rookie and Coach of the Year, the Soladay Awards, Team, Performance, Play, Game and Shot of the Year, Most Improved Team, the Ernie Davis Courage Award, and each individual team's 'Cuse Award winner. The Soladay Award is the highest honor presented to a male and female senior student-athlete each year and is named in honor of longtime athletics administrator Doris Soladay. The Ernie Davis Courage Award is an honor bestowed upon an individual who has overcome a disadvantaged background, a serious injury, or has demonstrated uncommon bravery or highly principled behavior in the face of adversity.Â
The 'Cuse Awards will also honor first team All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, the team with the highest collective grade-point average, the most points in the NACDA Director's Cup, and the team that has done the most community engagement.
